FairCheck Terms of Service

Effective date: October 15, 2026 · Draft

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FairCheck — the website at faircheck.app and the FairCheck mobile apps (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by MintSoft (Seoul, Republic of Korea; "MintSoft", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. What FairCheck is

FairCheck is a global community where people share prices and ask whether they were fair.

  • Posts. You can post a price you paid ("I bought") or a price you are considering ("Should I buy?"), with an amount, currency, country, category, description, tags and up to three photos.
  • Votes and replies. Other users vote on each post — Reasonable, Ambiguous or Overpriced — and can reply. The "overpriced index" is the share of Overpriced votes.
  • AI price estimate. For new posts and private price checks, the Service asks an AI model to estimate a typical price range. On public posts the estimate is shown only to the author and to people who have voted, so that it does not influence votes.
  • Private price checks (app). You can privately ask for an AI estimate a limited number of times per day. Private checks are not shown to other users.
  • Other features. Bookmarks, notifications (including push notifications in the app), search by tag, country and category, and approximate currency conversion.

The Service is free. The apps show advertising (see section 9).

2. Accounts

  • You can sign in with Google, Apple or an email address and password. After the first sign-in you create a profile with a unique nickname and your country, and agree to these Terms.
  • You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service (16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, or older if your local law requires). If you are below the age of majority where you live, you confirm that your parent or guardian agrees to these Terms.
  • One person, one account. Do not create accounts to manipulate votes or to evade a suspension.
  • Keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account unless it results from our failure to protect it.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings. Deleting your account permanently deletes your posts, replies, votes, bookmarks, reports, notifications and photos, as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the posts, photos, replies and other material you submit ("User Content").
  • You grant MintSoft a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for example resize images, format or translate text), and distribute your User Content for operating, improving and promoting the Service. Public posts and replies can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in, and may be indexed by search engines and AI crawlers.
  • The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain for a limited time in backups or caches, or where we must keep them by law.
  • Your User Content is sent to our AI provider to produce the AI price estimate (see the Privacy Policy). It is not used by us to train AI models.
  • You confirm that you have the rights to what you post (for example, that you took the photos or may use them) and that it does not violate these Terms or the law.

4. Rules for content and conduct

FairCheck is about prices, not about people or businesses. Do not post or do the following:

  • Defamation or false accusations. Do not claim that a specific business or person cheated, committed a crime or acted dishonestly unless you can support it, and keep to your own experience.
  • Naming businesses or people. Be careful when identifying a specific shop, seller or person. Do not include names, phone numbers, addresses, faces, license plates or other details that single someone out in a way that could harm their reputation or privacy. Describe the item, the place in general terms, and the price. Posts that expose business names may be hidden.
  • Personal information of others, or your own contact details.
  • Hate speech, harassment, threats, sexual content, graphic violence or profanity.
  • Spam, advertising, affiliate links, or fake or manipulated receipts and prices.
  • Content that is illegal, infringes intellectual property or promotes illegal goods or services.
  • Voting with multiple accounts, coordinated voting, or otherwise manipulating votes, rankings or reports.
  • Scraping the Service at scale, interfering with its operation, circumventing security, or uploading malware.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules.

5. Votes and the AI estimate are for reference only

  • Votes, replies and the overpriced index are opinions of other users. They are not verified and may be wrong.
  • The AI price estimate is generated by artificial intelligence and is labeled as such. It is a reference estimate based on the post and on comparable posts. It can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, and it is not professional, financial, legal or consumer advice. A verdict such as "overpriced" is not a statement of fact about any seller.
  • Currency conversions are approximate, based on published reference rates (rates by Exchange Rate API), and may differ from the rate you actually get.
  • Decide for yourself. MintSoft is not responsible for purchasing or negotiating decisions you make based on the Service.

6. Reporting and hidden content

  • You can report a post or reply (for example: business name exposed, profanity, defamation, spam). You cannot report your own content, and you can report the same item only once.
  • When a post or reply receives five reports, it is hidden automatically until an administrator reviews it. Administrators may also hide or delete content and suspend accounts that break these Terms or the law.
  • Hidden content stays visible to its author. If you think your content was hidden by mistake, contact us at app@mint-soft.com.
  • If you believe content infringes your rights (including copyright or privacy), contact us with the link and the reason.

7. Notifications

You can turn push notifications for replies, votes and notices on or off in the app. Notices about the Service (for example changes to these Terms) may be sent regardless of these settings.

8. Changes to the Service

We may add, change or remove features, or suspend the Service temporarily for maintenance or for reasons beyond our control. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.

9. Advertising

The FairCheck apps display ads served by Google AdMob. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before using personal data for ads, and you can change your choice at any time in the app. Ads are provided by third parties; we are not responsible for the products or services they advertise.

10. Suspension and termination

  • You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate an account, with notice where reasonable, if it seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms or the law, or if required by law. Where possible we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, MintSoft does not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content (including votes, AI estimates and conversions) is accurate.
  • To the extent permitted by law, MintSoft is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss caused by User Content or by other users.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability for damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes will be handled by the competent court in Seoul, Republic of Korea, under the Civil Procedure Act. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim there.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will announce changes in the Service at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days for changes that are unfavorable to you). If you do not agree, you can delete your account before the changes take effect.
